1. Who this policy covers
This policy describes how Ryan J. Stout (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the MigraTrace iPhone app and on this website. MigraTrace is a personal migraine and headache diary. You do not need a MigraTrace account to use its core features.
Our central privacy commitment is simple: we do not operate a server that receives or stores your diary. We do not sell diary information, use it for advertising, or include third-party advertising or analytics tools in the app.
2. Your diary and device storage
Information you choose to record may include migraine or headache episodes, times, symptoms, severity, impact, medications and treatments, perceived responses, suspected factors, pain-free days, notes, and optional profile details. The app stores this information in its protected local container on your iPhone.
The diary database is not synced through CloudKit and is excluded from iCloud and computer backups. We cannot retrieve a lost diary for you. Before deleting the app or replacing your phone, export any records you want to keep. Exports are copies for your own use; MigraTrace does not currently provide an import or restore feature.
Optional App Lock uses the device’s authentication system. MigraTrace does not receive or store your Face ID data, Touch ID data, or device passcode. Device protection has limits, including when a device is unlocked, shared, or compromised.
3. Optional Apple Health access
You can independently enable read-only access to sleep, step counts, and menstrual-flow days. MigraTrace requests only the categories you choose. It does not write to Apple Health.
Readable information is summarized on your device for the relevant app view. The app does not save raw Health samples into its diary or send them to us. When you create a clinician report, enabled, available aggregate summaries can be included in the temporary PDF. They leave the app only if you choose to save or share that report.
You can stop using Health context in MigraTrace and manage system permissions in Apple Health or iPhone Settings. Stopping a category in the app does not itself revoke Apple’s permission setting. Deleting MigraTrace data does not delete the original records in Apple Health.
4. Optional location and weather
If you enable weather context, MigraTrace requests a coarse, foreground location to obtain conditions from Apple Weather. That coordinate is sent to Apple for the request and then discarded by the app. MigraTrace does not save coordinates or maintain a location history, and does not request background location.
Saved weather context may include temperature, pressure, humidity, conditions, observation time, provider information, and a link to a diary day or episode. Past weather requests require confirmation that the past record occurred at your current location. Declining leaves diary logging available.
Turning weather context off stops future captures but keeps saved snapshots. You can delete saved weather data in the app. Apple handles requests under its own privacy terms.
6. App Store purchases
Apple processes payments and subscriptions. MigraTrace receives purchase and entitlement information through Apple’s StoreKit service to determine whether Pro is available. A protected entitlement record can be retained locally for access checks. Diary, symptom, medication, Health, and location data are not attached to purchase requests.
We do not receive your full payment-card information. Apple may make purchase, subscription, and app-performance reports available to the developer under your Apple settings and Apple’s policies. These reports are not a copy of your diary. See Apple’s privacy policy.
7. Website visits and support
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Delivering and protecting the site involves processing technical request information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser or device information, and request times. Cloudflare processes this information as a hosting and security provider; it does not receive your app diary through this website. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
The website itself does not add advertising pixels, analytics scripts, tracking cookies, sign-in, or a form for submitting health records. Links to Apple or other external sites are governed by those sites’ policies when you follow them.
If you email support, we and our email provider receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. We use that information to respond and troubleshoot. Please send only what is needed and avoid medical records or sensitive health details in an initial message. Support communication is separate from your local diary.
8. Retention and your choices
Your local diary remains on your device until you remove entries, use Delete All Data, or remove the app. Delete All Data also clears relevant app preferences and temporary files. Purchase entitlement information may remain so purchases can be restored; a deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Support messages are kept only as needed to address your request, handle related follow-up, and meet applicable legal obligations. Hosting and email providers process information under their service terms and retention practices, and may operate in countries outside your own.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of personal information we hold, and to contact a relevant privacy authority. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your request. Because we do not possess your local diary, its export and deletion controls are on your iPhone.
9. Children
MigraTrace is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website or support. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
10. Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the app or website’s data practices change, with the revised date shown above. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
For privacy questions or requests: Support contact details will be available before launch.
